trébol soft coated wheaten terriers

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers came into our life in 1985 but it was 1992 when we brought home our very own first dog, Highland’s Young Sir Angus.  He led us to the world of dog showing and within the year we brought home our  US CH Lontree Laced Kid Glove, now remembered for being selected a 2006 National Specialty Award of Merit at age 14.  A one of a kind personality, she passed on her sound conformation to 3 beautiful litters, including our first four homebred champions.

In 1997 we added US CH Honeylee’s HiLight On Trébol, who earned Best of Opposite Sex at the 1997 National Specialty Sweepstakes and sired one litter that yielded two AKC champions: US CH Trébol Shakespeare In Love and 2001 top 5 SCWT and National Specialty Award of Merit winner US CH Trébol As You Like It.

However, our line moves on through US CH Trébol Whisk Off The Gloves from our second litter.  Square, balanced and of excellent type and conformation, she was bred only once in Germany to multiple CH Wheaten Rebels Walk On Top.  This gave us ‘Banner’- US CH Trébol Top Billing, OA OAJ NAP NJP and ‘Zoe’- US CH Trébol Take It From The Top.  Both have become key figures in our selective breeding program.  Banner has distinguished himself a signature sire and Zoe as dam to our 2005 National Specialty Winner’s Dog and AOM winner US CH Trébol Labour Leader, who now enjoys a very selective role as a stud dog.  Both bitches from this breakthrough litter with CAN IRL US CH Geragold Orla Finlandia were lost to failed co-ownerships.

In 2002 we began our partnership with Betsy Geertson, who breed under the Orion prefix since 1988.  With a decided goal of breeding SCWT’s of exemplary temperament that might also excel in the performance ring, we selected US CH Acacia’s Some Like It Hot, CDX RE OA OAJ AXP AJP NFP who went on to produce 2008 National Specialty Sweepstakes Winner  US CH Orion Trébol Hot On The Leader Board, RN NAJ and 2009 Versatility Award Winner: Orion Trébol Hot Off The Press, VCD1 RAE AX AXJ OAP OJP OF.  More recently, we have added two other incredible bitches:  US CH Seanacy T’Daze Top Story and US CH Geragold Seanacy Gilded Trébol, co-owned with Seanacy and Geragold Kennels which form part of our shared vision for the breed.

In closing, it is hard not mention Allison Sunderman and Gwen Meyer for their help and friendship over the years and who when necessary have ensured that our dogs are well represented in the ring.  Lastly, it is impossible to have put together this compendium of our dogs without acknowledging our friends and mentors in the Breed, Gary Vlachos and Bill Behan.  From whom we gained an appreciation of how high the bar should be set for our dogs. We hope you enjoy these pages that represent our small contribution to this wonderful Breed.
